Guitar lessons in Rotterdam
At the beginning of our music lessons, I always go back to the basics with you. What is your guitar posture ? How do you handle tone, timing and rhythmic feeling ? What have you taught yourself and do you do in your own way ? Where are the issues you feel in your progress in your guitar playing ? We make a plan and start working with guitar techniques such as fingerpicking and plectrum techniques, strumming, grooves, interpretation and improvisation. You and I play guitar in our lesson and we combine experiential learning with theory and knowledge of music.
Through the establishment of the right mindset and the practising of routines and specific styles, the goal is to bring results in efficient ways, without losing the pleasure of playing and at the pace of the pupil. My main role as a teacher will then be to make sure that the pupil evolves in the right direction, by assisting him/her on weekly (recommended for beginners) or biweekly bases, as well as delivering the best fitting styles of pieces in order to develop his/her musical experience through this learning.
Your personal programme
There are three dimensions to a student's programme : guitar scores, tutorials and coaching.
Having a Master's degree in Jazz composition, I design the scores myself, making arrangements of pieces / songs in an accessible way, along with my method and exercises for guitar technique. The scores are written with a hybrid notation (music notation and tab notation), and with all the information necessary about the right and left hand.
After having agreed on the pieces / songs to be worked on, the relevant score is shared and given at the lesson. I go through it, while I also play it live to the pupil for even more reach. I then explain what needs to be clarified in order to prepare any homework.
Finally, I create a video tutorial about the piece or song that needs to be learned for the next lesson. This gives extra support when practising at home, in order to avoid any doubt and keep motivation up.
A report is then created to keep track of what has been done during the lessons as well as what needs to be worked on, in order to unlock technical requirements and complete a specific repertoire in a constructive and efficient way.

Live or online
I usually teach at home (in Rotterdam) or at the pupil's own location ; lessons are in Dutch, English or French, for all ages and levels. I mainly gives live lessons, where I work with my pupils on specific material (guitar technique and repertoire). If for any reason a live lesson can't take place, it is of course possible to follow an online lesson. Lessons last 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 60 minutes, weekly or biweekly.
